Michael has always been so patient with my interests, and many we do share. As I love Nancy Drew stories, he enjoyed the Hardy Boys series as a young reader. He helped cultivate a good collection for our boys as they were growing up. He and JT helped me get the ND shelf situated. Now, M has jumped on the reading train, beginning with the first Hardy Boys adventure, The Tower Treasure.
Speaking of reading, I want to pay a quick tribute to our beloved pastor and friend from Statesboro, Dr. Bill Perry. Dr. Perry was pastor of First Baptist of Statesboro when we were first married. In addition to being one of the godliest and kindest men I have ever known, he was an avid reader who kept several books going at the same time, carrying some with him wherever he went to always make the most of any opportunity to read. M said this week that he wanted to adopt the "Bill Perry method" this year. I believe Dr. Perry would be so pleased.
This Friday, M and I were able to take a little spin around town to visit one of our favorite antique stores. They have a little of everything, including some ND editions I needed for the collection. I'm trying to collect primarily the matte editions, and these both fit the bill. The Clue of the Dancing Puppet is a newer printing, but it is still the matte cover (the "slick" yellow titles are easier to find). I need to find the newer cover of The Secret of Shadow Ranch --I have two of these older cover copies. I couldn't remember what I had, so I purchased this one. It will make a good gift.
Hope you all have a good week, and that you will make some time to read something you really enjoy!
